Turner Precision Engineers, who operate a CNC shop in Kunda Park QLD gave me a very unused 16 inch 1 8D 3jaw, British made came off a Colchester 3000, I gave him 300 for it, new would be nearer 3000
Anyway, my CAZ 3 jaw was stuffed, been on the HB 575 since the 70s
The Big 16 had a removable back, I bored the back 8mm deep 320, it was hard cos all I had to measure was a set of those old callipers and no internal ones, but that was ok, I cut a rod to fit the external calliper and crept up to size, made interference fit pressed in wth the tailstock
the lot will be very heavy as the chuck is 101kg pratt bernard, steel, the caz stuff another 30
