How can I find gears for lathe weiler condor vs.
I'm looking for 2 gears z = 21
And one gear z = 28

Well finding used is probably a very slim chance, so time to either make or modify a standard available gear. Needed 2 gears for my Chinese 18" lathe ,ordered cutters of eBay from China cheap. Made gears !

Make them? - assuming straight cut left end gearing. Its not much trouble to come up with the MODULE or size of the teeth - on the gears you do have there

You can buy standard gears so cheap No need to make them
Modul on the Condor is 1.5
HOWEVER
The Z=21 originaly from Weiler is a special gear as it is bigger as normal That needs to be made on a hobbing machine
The hole in it is so big that you have no more meat for a nut in a standard gear
I happen to have a picture of one made from a stock gear(left) and a original one
You can see the toothprofile is different on the one from Weiler
The left one has very little meat left in the key way

Another BUT
I know that on a Matador Weiler changed the theading chart and also the gears needed with a Z=25 gear as the smallest one
THE REST OF THE MACHINE STAYED THE SAME
So you can use a new threading chart with Z=25 gear on a machine with a Z=21 gear as the smallest change gear
I have a threading cart for a matador with a Z=25 Not for a Condor
Perhaps someone finds a theading chart with Z=25 on his Condor ???
