I understand that some of the local (Swiss) Schaublin distributors bought up the majority of the machine stock and parts. They are now selling these as "new" (which I guess is accurate) machines.

That's interesting Alan as it may mean that Schaublin, as a manfacturer, really is out of business, but someone is still selling new machines from old inventory creating the illusion of continuous manufacturing.

Schaublin does not make parts anymore.they are bought in from subcontractors.the castings are manufactured in the east of europe.and probably soon from China since schaublin has Chinese owners.the beads are still ground in bevilard.the painting is also done outside.the rebuild of crosslides is still done in-house by two specialists.some spare parts are still available but limited and expensive.all drawings are available if one knows the right person.
