Hi,

recently bought a 102VM - all in all it's in great shape.
Previous owner used grease instead of oil
In the process of cleaning all the gunk out of the tailstock and quill I've accidentally removed the sight glass indicator :willy_nilly: spent 2h trying to get that sucker back in place and gave up for now :wall:

does anyone have a good tip how to get back in there - in my defense, it was so packed with grease i could even tell it existed.

many thanks for any advice.

Well I was able to put it back together myself.
Quite a tricky thing.
Used an LED strip so I would see inside the bore. Held the tailstock upside down close to the table's edge so that gravity would be on my side. Than a pair of wooden chop sticks, one from each side, I compressed the spring and guide it into place. Took about an hour.

Your pain has helped me tremendously. My tailstock is missing the pointer and now I know what it looks like.
Thanks,
