weipert was the Mercedes or Rolls of the heavy lathes.
early '70 Weipert was bought by Voest Alpine in Linz, Austria.
Voest Alpine is a steel mill, who made their own lathes.
later on the lathe factory ofsVoest turned in to WFL Mill Turn, which is still de Rolls Royce of the turning-milling machines.
We have a WFL M65 in our company, ran in 5 years over 24000 hours and still machines under "lights out" conditions within 15 µm. tolerances.
now back to Weipert. At this moment I don't a lathe of this dimensions, otherwise it would high on my list, just as VDF Boehringer or Heidenreich & Harbeck.
