Automatic transmissions that handle 100's of ft/lbs of torque have smallish torringtons between the clutch packs. My impression was that they were fairly robust.

$200 might be low but I wouldn't spend that for it. The flat belt is a real turn-off. It's not that it's a bad drill, it's just that it's old and dangerous to use. As something to collect, it's...

Here's how I interpret your story:

2 - 20 days later, the new owners left a relatively nice note on the door...

I noticed that too. Sort them into batches, toss them through the air into a pile.

These days all those bearing people were probably automated out of existence.

One of the best changes I made to my old lathe was a Chinese copy of an Aloris quick change toolpost. I have no idea how you old timers with the lantern type posts got anything done.

You already have a 60 gallon Husky. I was thinking it would make more sense to upgrade your more modern compressor over messing with an old one. What part's too loud on the husky? Maybe upgrade it...

That Sheldon looks nice. It's built quite a bit heavier than a Logan. What do people think of these Rockwells?

My advice is don't buy anything with flat belts or plain bearings. Save your money for a Logan or something like it. In the same class but you can get parts and they use real bearings.

I was thinking this too but I didn't want to be "that" guy. I've seen Bridgeports like this sell for $3000 or so. That seems to be worth selling. If you price the lathe low enough someone will buy...
