Do you only machine with 1 cutter most of the time?
Why not keep your existing spindle and just clamp one of those high speed spindles to your Z axis/spindle?

    Yeah.
You have a good point about using a sleeve to focus wear on the adapter sleeve instead of the integral bore.
  3. Spindle sleeve taper versus spindle center taper?

I believe MT6 is the integral spindle bore taper itself at the front of the headstock, so probably canít be removed. I donít think thereís any actual sleeve in there.
The spindle ID is 2.1Ē at the...
  4. Spindle sleeve taper versus spindle center taper?

Ok. Thanks! I suspected it meant that.
Just seems oddly phrased to me.
Iíd rather just use a #6 MT dead center and tooling to avoid adapters.
  5. Spindle sleeve taper versus spindle center taper?

I was looking at the Mori Seiki MS type/Webb/Whacheon WL435 manual and in the spindle specs, it says the spindle sleeve taper is MT6, but the spindle center taper is MT4
It says the tailstock is MT4...

Nice! I like those multifix toolposts. I've used them a few times and they are nice to use!
If I were to remove my compound, I could put a CA or DA sized toolpost on. Problem with that is that...

Looks like something is wrong with the brake pedal cylinder or the line.

I put in brake fluid and pumped the pedal a bunch of times, but nothing came out at the end of the line.

Whoa! That must have been quite a day!
Amusing that the bungeed rack was fine.
Were you previously planning on taking the Bay Bridge back? :-)

    SCSI huh?
We still have a bunch of old SCSI...

    I like that idea.

I've built some heavy duty wheeled boxes out of 3/4" CDX before with big, beefy casters on them. They worked really well. I definitely get the concept that boxes are strong,...
  12. Garage shop, rust, wood shelves, oil wick fabric?

    Good idea!
Where would you put the thermostat though? Iím guessing youíre actually talking about a temperature controller.
    What resistance ranges are good?
Iíll ho have a look on fleaBay
  13. Good point! Ok!

    Good point! Ok!
  14. Garage shop, rust, wood shelves, oil wick fabric?

Iím starting to build some shelving behind my machines in my garage shop, using up some 3/4Ē plywood remnants. (More in a bit).

Yeah, the switch was definitely upside down/backwards.
I flipped it and it works correctly now.

Whoever designed that mounting plate for the limit switches deserves a smacking though! Through...

So, the forward/reverse/neutral cam and limit switches are in the spindle motor cabinet and easier to access than I was worried about.
Unsurprisingly, the arrangement is different from the manual....

    Ahh! :-)
I thought it was my ignorance, which I have in abundance :-)

It's usable right now, but definitely annoying having to shift through forward to get to or from reverse.
