Shipping from Germany to US is 75€ for 20kg, which is the limit for postal packages. I have done it several times and with no issues.
I double checked. They now do 31,5 kg.

The machine shown is about from 1953 and already...
The machine shown is about from 1953 and already has a feed gearbox. That is very good. A 1950 model, as you first suspected, only has change gears (very awkward).
So a 1953 machine is totally OK...
