Ok so heres an update

I asked the seller of the spare board if it was known to be working when removed and they said it was as far as they were concerned so i decided to take another look at the...

So I got the eBay board from the USA today and fitted it to the machine but it doesn’t work at all!!!

When fitted and powered on I just get a “breaker trip” alarm on the screen and can’t turn on...

So ive got the machine to stop tripping the breaker and it is definitely something to do with the same chuck and un chuck relays so could be board related still

It had damaged the unchuck relay...

Yeah the board from the states used is about £100 delivered so i have just bought one on ebay but again delivery will be around 2 weeks but hopefully sooner, the other new parts are still on order...

Afraid not as I didnt see see which 1 it was he traced it back to

Going back to the chips that I’m replacing on 1 of the main boards, I just checked and it is the MC323 board

So The dc voltage converter was putting out 24v exactly at the output terminals so I adjusted this to 25.3v at the terminals.

The voltage adjustment did make a difference to some relays but...

I’m very basic when it comes to electronics,

Is there any guidance on where or how I’d start to see if anything on that pcb was leaking to ground?

I did meter the + & - from the little silver AVR unit which supplies the 24v DC above the relay boards, and measured at the terminals it was exactly 24 volts but as said when I measure across the...

Voltage to coils reads 21v dc (coil is 24v dc) Could that be enough to do it?

I fitted 2 new 110vac coil solenoids to the chuck/unchuck directional valve and I also tried new spark killers...

So today I had 2 new sockets fitted for UCH & CH and they also repaired what they said was some bad track but it still hasn’t solved the issue!

My machine does have the 2 proxy switches for open/close and chuck over stroke error (if it completely pulls the material out when bar pulling) so it is set to see that signal before...

I’ve spent all day literally, 12 hours fault finding and trying to narrow down the issue and it is 100% to do with the interlocking of the chuck & unchuck relays that’s causing the issue

Could well be,

The left relay is labelled UCH and the right is labelled CH

I guess that stands for UNCHUCK & CHUCK ???

So as 1 opens it makes sense for the other to close,

Whilst google searching relay issues I came across this topic that is not lathe/mazak related but is the exact issue I have so maybe it could be a relay power supply issue

I have found what i beleive to be an intermitent ice cube really for the chuck open so i have ordered a new 1 and will update after a few days use

Well I had another good go over the machine today,

For good measure I drained the hydraulic fluid completely

I removed the chuck, tailstock, turret indexing and turret clamp directional...
