I would bet that, if you are just using low gear to tighten the ER chuck, you're not tightening it enough.

Since there are no flats on your holder, make a bench mounted 'socket'...

ER32 need, I think, around 100 Nm torque. If you can apply this using the low gear then you're ok...
Doesn't your holder have flats for a second wrench? So that torque is between the two wrenches...

A quick look on an FP2 brochure suggests:

large angular table:
weight 60 kgr...

155 mm (FP2) VS 173 mm (FP3) Bruce if I am not mistaken...

I'd rather lose the head altogether than lose one of the two pieces :D

this thing has a minimum width requirement of around 2 mm (as I saw in the app note). Did you have to machine the nut a bit to allow for this?

Do you have a reference for this procedure Bruce? I am aware of low-end applications, I don't think I have seen anyone making a nut like this properly.
