I am not going to sit here and defend Haas by any means but Ellison is the true culprit here. Bunch of real assholes in that company. My guess is you probably didn't speak with anybody local. If you...

We have a Doosan with the Eppinger Preciflex heads and they have worked great for us. 3 years old and probably need a rebuild for sure but the finish is still decent enough for us. Have you...

Also don't let the minimum bores be absolute God's word. That .787 you referenced is probably the minimum bore to prevent the heal of the insert rubbing. Drill size is .807, and you have a .625" bar....

    Bar: R166.0KF-16-1220-11B

Right hand bar, thread from headstock to tailstock. Low depth of cut, low spindle speed. It's only 60 parts so another 20 seconds...

I agree with most of the points brought up here, except for the part off to 1" diameter then finish with a hacksaw. You should be able to bring your parting tool to about 1/4" diameter and then...

1/4 BSPT Tap drill is 11.2mm while BSP is 11.8. Doubtful you will get any good threads tapping them out to BSPT. No help switching to the inch version either.

CNC Lathe for sure. Couple of design considerations would be 1 piece out of bar stock, and add additional material to the open end of the sheave to allow for the appropriate size set screw. Also, no...

I have been in a Puma 240 subspindle and it is really just a miniature version of the main spindle. Pretty simple design to take apart. Can you look down the spindle and verify the draw tube is...

Also do you not have CAD? In under 30 minutes I could have that part drawn, dimensioned, programmed, and ready to pass off to an operator. I see very little reason for changes on such a simple part.

Honestly I don't know how we went from filing 1 piece for ease of design, all the way to spending $1000+ on a form tool from severance, all the while skirting past the CNC lathe sitting there looking...

Set up a CNC lathe and do 200 of them. That makes it worth your while. Only thing you are out is the material cost which is negligible and the 2 hours of labor it would take to run these. Or, sub...

We had an Acra 16x40 at work that we never should have sold. Taiwanese built but it was a great machine and the perfect size for short run stuff. Pretty solid machine in my opinion. Only down side...

No. Best rule of thumb with lathes is there is no rule of thumb. If you are cutting towards the headstock on the OD it should be G42. If you are boring towards the headstock it would be G41. There...

Apparently I suck at links. Google search for "adjust doosan touch setter" and its the first result from CNC Zone. Like I said it works on our older Pumas with 18i and 21i controls.

The tolerance lies within the +/- 1 turn of the gauge. Since it is tapered and the tolerance is +/- 1 turn of the L1 length (where the flat is ground) there is no need for both a go and no go gauge.
