Hi guys, we recently launched an app for tracking jobs and tooling. It helps people by showing exactly how much money was spent on tooling per job, while also showing where your jobs are at in the manufacturing process. Right now we are running a beta program giving users a free year subscription. If you're looking for a system, or would like to just know more about your shop, sign up free at ManufacturingVault.com.

How do you guys currently track jobs and tooling?

How do you guys currently track jobs and tooling?

.
computer system we use tracks what each employee gets in tooling per day, week, month, year, etc. per job normally not a concern. if breaking expensive tools we write in a book what program involved. this is for programmer to buy more tools and maybe fix program thats breaking tools. although normally operator will fix program first. but some operators dont bother. they dont care if breaking tools. figuring its not their job but its the programmers job.
.
usually experienced operators will fix program breaking tools causer its more work to keep changing the tools so often. if they last longer operator has less problems, day goes smoother. operator will add time to tools that still look ok. why do extra work changing if not needed ? usually new guys use the most tooling as they break more tools and they change tools more often.
.
i aint saying wait to inserts are throwing sparks for when to change them but some guys do do that. they wait as long as possible

Is the crib manager using excel of something to keep track of the tools and the jobs their being used on? ManufacturingVault.com would be a system that the crib manager could document their work in. For tool tracking we track all tooling used on the job and overall costs for that tooling, along with overall crib totals. That and we're also moving into job tracking, like if a job is in machining or quality etc... Job tracking is one of the area's that we'd like to get some advice on. We have a pretty good stage-gate process, but we want to get feedback from people using it in their shops. We're offering a free year subscription to our beta users, so if you get some time check it out at ManufacturingVault.com.
