You can contact HVH Industrial Solutions, if you have a shop in Jersey that meets my requirements.

Interesting views of what a small shop is worth or would sell for.
Real experiences here? Unless you have very new or special stuff the machines are at best $300 per ton and that is pushing it.
Ever had a outside source come in and apprise selling value? Sort of shocking.

Customer list and solid continuing sales are a bigger part or the deal.
I don't think the OP is out of line.
To all that own such sized shops what have you told the wife to do with it all when you pass? Have a workable plan?

I don't understand wanting to live or run a shop in Jersey but to each his own.
I do know people who buy or build small "retirement" or satellite shops in vacation areas. Travel to and from the area along with housing can become a businesses line item so 10-30% price cut depending on your taxes.

Robert, you might want to check current scrap rates...

    I know the scrap rates.
Now if selling functional but older machines how many times the current scrap metal price can you hope to you get?

    Bob,
When there is a right opportunity, we are going to take different factors into account such as customer base, equipment and so on, but most importantly the team that the shop has. The team member (machinists) are a big portion of the price. If the shop has experienced team that has been there for a long time, we will be willing to pay higher price. Hope this helps.
If you know anyone that has a shop that is within our requirements, please ask them to contact HVH. Thank you.

Are you looking for another shop? Or are you still looking for the first one?

It might help if you describe what kind of shop you want. Metal spinning? Gear hobbing? Swiss turning? Sheetmetal? Mill/lathe? Grinding? Something else? At the size you're talking about, no shop will do more than 2 of those options. More likely only 1. And a thread rolling shop won't be much use to you if you want to make injection molds.

Are you trying to make anything specific? Or do you just want to own a shop, and you don't care what kind it is?

Chonburi is nice this time of year. In fact, I'm pretty sure Chonburi is nice any time of year. And you don't have to mark up all your products an extra 25% (yet).

    Per Buck's linked ad:

"Buying an existing machine shop is a quick and easy way of getting started in this recession-proof industry. "

What doo you expect him to be posting about?
He's not a machinist, and thus far he doesn't have a shop either.

    ???

Just an FYI for you guys:

The OP asked me to delete this thread a cpl of days ago as he did not like getting called a SPAMmer, and that the whole thread took a turn for the worse.

What he doesn't understand is that with all the BS posts, his thread keeps gitt'n topped, and more and more people see it - that might know of a shop, or if something comes available in the near future, they may remember this thread and come search it out to find him.

It is WAY more likely that he will find "that shop" now with all the comotion, than if he had just topped the thread and there was no traffic.

However - I just don't see why y'all feel the need to cut the guy Schidt for posting an RFQ for buying a business?
    What's with that?

Besides, how many shops doo you know that have sold in the last cpl of years?
Come the next slow down - much more likely....
