    Hundreds of years of "late bloomers", yes. Second marriages actually were the rule rather more often than the exception.

    G'Dad was among the second set of three kids to his Widowed Dad's second marriage in his 60's, not all that long after our Civil War ended.

    My dad didn't marry 'til age 34. Mum 12 years younger.

    Same on her side with widowers and second go-rounds, her Dad & Mum's side, both.

    Root cause was that more women died in childbirth, their era's, sometimes even after having several kids with no prior problems. That was always "at home", not in hospitals not yet common - nor even wanted if they had been.
