I need to do some small work (cutting a 10 tooth 32dp gear on a 3/16" shaft), and I'd like to use an arbor for the gear cutter, mounted in a 5C collet.
The problem is that I can't get the table to go any closer to the column than about 2".
I have the universal table, and I suspected that the feed drive rod was binding, but after removing it, that is not the cause (although it appears that the problem has been there for some time, judging by the feed rod's wear pattern). So before I start disassembling the saddle/knee to see what is stopping it, does anyone have a clue about what the cause probably is? Like having the yoke on backwards...
