Hardinge back plate???

Try this link: <http://www.mscdirect.com/PDF.process?pdf=1543>

It is MSC catalog page 1543, part number 85029908. It's expensive at $218 but probably way less than Hardinge. Or, you can take one of MSC's blank backplate castings of the dimensions you need and machine your own from scratch. Getting the taper right is tricky but not impossible. Locating the locking pin properly should also be straight forward.

My 1995 Toolmex catalogue (they are importers of Bison) shows a backplate for the 6" Bison "Set-Tru" chuck to fit the 4 deg taper Hardinge spindle nose. No price given, surely cheaper than Hardinge or Buck (the only other maker I'm aware of). Code number is 7-960-064. Of course this backplate would have the spigot for the Set-Tru centering screws to bear against. This seems to be the only Hardinge back plate Bison makes.
