I have spent far too much time at the local smith's shop. I have decided it is time to get a mill. I don't have much to work with, so I am leaning towards an Enco (100-1526) which has everything I need in the mill itself (DRO, PowerFeed, R8 Spindle, various speeds, etc.)

Does anyone have any experience with this mill or other Enco models? Any recommendations on other models or manufacturers? I have a co-worker hunting around for a used J-head BP.

Work will mostly be machining of gun parts - AR-15 lowers, 1919 internals and other small machining operations.

Thanks for any assistance.

this may not help much but I am looking at the 9-49 variable speed mill MSC sells. they have a package with 3 axis DRO for under 6800

they normally have these on sale often in the flyers. max RPM is 4200

ignore the price on that. if you go ingto browse, then machinery, then metal machines. pic a 49 inch table and click view products those are the current prices
