small diameter hole on the bottom of a Win. 70 push feed bolt? It's near the gas vent hole, and in line with the ejector plunger hole. The ejector plunger hole intersects it, because oil in the plunger hole will drip out of this hole. I'm not talking about the hole for the retainer pin for the ejector assembly.

Sorry for another stupid question.

If I understand your question right, that little hole you refer to is the one that is at the bottom of the ejector plunger hole.

My guess is that the hole keeps the ejector plunger from building pressure behind it by allowing oil/crud/pressure to exit through the hole when the ejector is compressed. This hole allows the ejector to collapse easier (only spring pressure must be overcome rather than spring and hydraulic pressure from trapped oil) which allows the bolt to close easier.
