I have an old New Baker double with Hammers and double triggers that belonged to grandpa with damascus barrels. While I have fired this with reduced loads with no problem I am getting some years on and would like to rebarrel with cylinder bore short barrels for quail hunting with my grandson(his daddy is gone)who is now only five but walks with me.Mainly we just walk and possibly shoot a bird or two over the dog.Can I heat the old barrel attachments for cocking etc and silver solder them back on the replacement barrels after proper spacing, chambering etc and milling extractor cut etc.Could a mig welder be used for some of this. This is mainly a project that I want to do with my grandson who is very bright for his age.
