OT-dumb thing to say to a mugger

So, this week in NYC a mugger was convicted of murder for shooting a young woman (aspiring actress, early 20's) in the chest point blank with a .357 magnum. Friends that were with her at the time said that she argued with the mugger and said "What are you going to do, shoot me?"
Once again, people confuse tough talking with being bulletproof.

This was said to an armed robber, with a ski mask on, at a dice game in Portlant, Arkansas. "I knows who you is #@%$". She was shot in the liver and survived.

The only proper thing to say (or do) to an armed theif or mugger is to get off the first (few) shot(s).

FWIW, a mugger doesn't use weapons, only the threat of/or physical violence. Robbers use weapons, even though the media no longer makes the distinction/knows the distinction.

By the way, what was the sentence? One year in the slammer?

2nd degree murder. Bad thing to be convicted of.

Mitigating (extenuating? attenuating??) circumstances:
1. One less actress in the world.
2. Brevity in his reply.

I believe he got multiple life sentances. Which in New York translates to being out in a few years.
Of course the illustrious mayor of Gotham only sees this as guns are bad, not that a gun might have saved her life.
