I do quite a bit of CCH here in the shop, end up with quite a bit of used charcoal. I know some folks re-use it; but I don’t like doing that.

A few days ago I was looking at this stuff (couple hundred lbs), and thought to myself "there's got to be a use for this.

I thought about burning it in the wood stove… but that charred bone is going to stink to high heaven.

So any thoughts? What do you other guys do with it.

Thanks

Mike

Perhaps you could sell it to folks at places like AnvilFire, ABANA and other blacksmithing sites where the reuse wouldn't be so critical. Many people might want to try their hand with a mix that's known to work.

Other than that, maybe there's some health food stores who could use it. :D

Mike,

Only 10 pounds, or so, right now. A least until I figure out what I'm doing. I do my own rust and nitre bluing and would like to be able to do charcoal black as well. The finishing work just helps supplement my engraving business.

I also let a buddy know that might be interested.

David
