I have a South Bend 10 L serial number is 120149 DWW then it has JFP below the serial number . I think it is a 10 L heavy it came with a single handle Tumbler. The handle is broke off I can’t find a handle.Can I switch this over to a double handle Tumbler gear box . I bought a single handle Tumbler gearbox for replacement for my lathe but when they shipped it to me to the handle was welded crooked so now I’m stuck with it.It is a good gearbox and now i have two messed up handles.there’s a bunch of two handles on eBay.can I just change it out and put a double Tumbler box on my lathe.here is a few pics of my problem

I'd just buy a new handle if you can find one, pretty easy thing to swap out.

it really wouldnt be too bad to just make a new handle in 3 sections and weld it together if need be.

It has been done, but it isn't as simple as swapping gear boxes. The end gearing is different so you would need a different banjo, 80t idler gear and stud, a 56 and 40T gear, as well as a lead screw designed for a double tumbler box. You may have to add a hole to your current bed as well. I'm not even certain the old style end gear cover would fit the new bandjo and gear, so possibly add that to your list as well.
ETA: I think you will also need to change a gear or two on your F/R tumbler.
I'd wait till you find a new handle. One will pop up on eBay or Ted might have one.
