Any idea on what would cause this banding? It only happens when the clutch is engaged. I have removed the apron, cleaned and reassembled the clutch. The apron reservoir is filled with type A oil. I have also tried different hss bits with no difference.
-380 rpm
-1/2” O1 tool steel
-.0021 feed
DOC - .005”
The banding is a little more noticeable than would appear in the photo.

I ground a radius on the tool. Overall better, but the banding is still there. Hopefully you can see it in this photo. As far as pushing the feed? What feed would you use?

Look up round nose finishing tool in HTRAL....your tool can work too but angle it so it not digging in....the RN tool will let you get up next to your center too.

With the RN tool I would be running at least .003" feed if finishing.

BTW- 01 doesn't really get "shiny" but you should be able to get smooth....and dark sulfur cutting oil really helps.

Also I applaud your choice of tool post....a lot of people thought I was nuts for sticking mostly to the lantern.
