Just got my first lathe 1954 south bend 13 ,replaced all the oil wicks, shim bearings belts all the standard stuff only to find out the thrust bearings are very bad ,can’t find any new ones now what to do ,has anyone contacted a bearing manufacturing company to see about getting new sets made ,you could be a bearing king ,what is the actual part number for the bearing thanks justin

What you can do is buy standard EW1-7/8 bearings and take them and have the races ground to the right thickness

They are the right ID and OD (IIRC) but are 5/8"thick, there is enough meat on the races to be ground

I would find the proper part if its available. I would guess that bearing may be hard to find. I may be wrong.
Latheman maybe
If a bearing is no longer available. Do some computer search Thrust bearing.
Measure the gap And find out what the I.D. O.D. is.
A thrust bearing can be substituted.
Finding the right part is less work. Sometimes

Edit; I napped while typing. Three other members answered during my nap. Substitute it.
