I'm new here. I came across this 18" x 54" South Bend for a steal and couldn't pass it up. I'm a pipe maker that wanted to pick up a metal lathe. I know this lathe is comically large for tobacco pipes, but I am a sucker for old machinery. I couldn't pass this guy up. I'm excited to give him new life. Anyone have any experience with this lathe? I'm planning on doing a quick clean and lube, but I eventually want to do a thorough scrub and paint the bad boy. Any info or advice would be great! I'm new metal lathes.
