Just heading down to the shop to put a belt on my soon to be running (hopefully) lathe. I made an overhead drive that is wall mounted and am planning on putting a one piece serpentine belt on it. Am I correct in assuming that I can remove the bearing caps (paying attention to the shims) and lift the spindle clear of the headstock?

Figured it was going to be, but thought I might have enough adjustment, it was the longest one they had in stock in an eight rib. I'll order a longer one tomorrow and in the meantime I will try and figure this picture thing out.... I've done it before, just not from here. Lol.
