I recently purchased a 1945 9A, got it home, went through it, and got it running. I replaced all the felts I found as I went through the machine. I did not find any felts in the 80T idler gear, nor have I seen any reference to any in the manuals.
Two questions:
1) Should there be felts in either of the two oil holes on the 80T idler gear?
2) If there are no felts, why are there two oil holes?
It seems like there should be to me, because the reversing gear assembly uses felts, and without felts the 80T is pretty slobbery.
