I'm a new 9a owner. This is an awesome place to learn!! My question(s): I have noticed that the QC gearbox on my lathe has only one gits oiler on top of the box....while photos of others have two. Is this just one of those subtle changes the manufacturer makes to models over time? Or are there some major design differences under the hood that necessitates the two vs one oiler? Finally.....which model came before the other?

Thanks in advance!

I think the second oiler was added in 1952. It is one long gallery across the box, so its not strictly needed, but if the gallery was not perfectly horizontal, or the lathe is not level, the oil would tend to pool on the left side. The second oiler attempts to fix that. I'd probably add one if I was doing a rebuild.
