So I made a post a week ago about wanting a motor upgrade for the southbend. The lathe was originally powered by a phaseomatic. I cannot begin to tell you how much of a difference this unit has made with my lathe. Everyone was 100% correct. The 1/2hp motor is all this lathe needs when powered correctly. It’s 100x better , worth every penny

Glad it worked out for you. I'm surprised it has 3 phase, most if not all of them were single phase originally. Mine still has the original 1/2 horse single phase motor, and it has all the power the lathe needs. The only way to get more use out of it would be to use a stiffer bench such as concrete or marble.
