Hi have a 13X6 south bend a 1922 with Babbitt bearings on each side of top belt shaft any ideas, or advice on pouring new Babbitt. they have a thin layer and are a one piece bearing. Thanks for the help

They only bit of advise I can offer you, would be DON'T re-pour your Babbitt bearings like this guy.
He has absolutely NO clue what he's doing, and the laughable part is, he explains away his mistakes and calls the job "OK".
It's not OK........it's a lousy excuse with bad practices and deplorable end results. What's not funny, is many people watch videos like
that, and think they are learning the correct way to do something, as evidenced by all the ridiculous praising comments posted.

YouTube

I suggest you watch a video made by someone that knows what the hell they are doing, possibly Keith Fenner, etc.

Check out David Richards "old steam powered machine shop" episode #15, on YouTube. He goes through pouring main bearings pretty thoroughly.

Keith Rucker has some good info on pouring babbit as well.

A 19 page guide on how to do it written by Fry Technology.

The guide explains babbitt selection, shell preparation, fluxes, melting technique, and casting using either the rotation method or core method.
