I saw a 9A listed on FB and someone mentioned it had the desirable fine feed QCGB. I had never heard of that variation. How do you identify one?

There are several variations of the ranges of longitudinal feeds and TPI that you may see a QCGB with. I was only aware of the two options of 2-128 and 4-224 (TPI) but a quick google shows there’s a 4-480 gearbox as well. If I had to assume I’d say it’s likely that they have a machine with a 4-480 gearbox. Why you would want a machine that is capable of doing that, I’m not really sure? That’s one hell of a slow cut at .0007”/rev.

I'm no expert, but the only fine feed one I have seen is on the heavy 10.

You can identify it by the left tumbler going from A to G instead of A to E.

They didn't come on the 9" models.

I think some people confuse the single tumbler with the double tumbler and think it has more feeds, but I think it's the same. Besides the tumbler, there's a 3-position lever on the top and the sliding gear on the side.

Where that ultra fine feed comes in handy is for better finishing cuts.
