(the lock screws are SHCS, the snap rings are tru-arc rings)

I'm interested... just don't have the funds at the moment:o. It would be much nicer than the home-brew ball bearing in an aluminum block set-up currently with our 9" SB.
 
Wow...that Steady Rest is really quite a beauty! And prob worth every penny.
Doesn't look anything like mine, which I'm in the process of cleaning up now.
Yes, I replaced the contact pieces with bearing type. I don't recall them
being brass either.
Yours looks more like a SR from a 10" my Dad had long ago (he had two). Had I known back then that
some accessories were interchangeable with the 9", I would have grabbed the taper attachment and steady
rest off of them before the machine resellers came along. Hell, I don't even know if mine is
South Bend or not.
Anyway, really nice job!
