Re-wire motor from 220v to 110?

1-1/2 hp, currently wired for 220v- but would need to run new power to it's location.
Electrical, is not my strong suit...

The motor plate indicates it can be wired for 110v, but because the wiring is run through the lathe's breaker/drum switch the schematic on the plate is even more useless to me :confused:

Is it possible- and does it make sense- to change the wiring to 120v so I can use existing outlets, or should I leave it as 220v and run a new circuit?

Thanks, guys.

I figured it was pushing the limit (I'd always thought 1 hp was about it). I'll run the new 220 circuit.

The higher the voltage the lower the amps, and you could use the 220 line for other work also {welder, milling machine etc.}
