Hey Guys, I would like to transfer my lever style collet closer from one south bend heavy 10 to another.

i was able to get the lever and tube off but not sure now to get the rest off... here are some pictures.. any help would be greatly appreciated !

the first 2 pics are the old lathe. there is no space between the adjustment collar and the gear.

the second 2 pics are of the new lathe. im not sure but it looks like the correct gear for the closer.

This spindle gear (the one specifically designed for the lever closer) has been somewhat modified from the
original - it seems to have an extra sleeve pressed onto the OD.

Possibly because the region in the stock gear, around the keyway, is pretty thin. Somebody
might have chuggered it up sometime in the past, and put the sleeve on to reinforce it.

Ughhh.. i was looking at a spindle gear on the auction site that was like mine but didn't have the extra sleeve... ( this was when i was still trying to figure out how to get the assembly apart ) Now i see that I wont be able to use my gear cover with this modified gear....

If both spindles and bearings are in decent shape, you could just swap the whole thing to the other machine.
