How big of a Part do you guys machine in your SB 9?

If it fits between centers and you can turn the spindle on without the tool post acting as a brake, I'd say your good

Nothing bigger than 9" diameter. Both of my 9's use 6" diameter chucks. Bigger than that is a losing battle because of clearance between the bed and jaws for large diameter stuff.

Don't forget face plate work.
You do have to clear the ways.
I have seen 1 or 2 lathes where the ways were cut out to allow a larger thin job on a face plate!

Mine seams to struggle with the 6" chuck.

Thanks.
LOTS of factors. Belt, type of belt, belt tension, old belt slipping. Speed, feed, material, cutter type, carbide or HSS?
I've found that with larger diameter parts it works much better to go with torque over speed. IE using back gear instead of direct drive
