You just put on the gears you need for the thread you want to cut and engage the half nut lever, make you cut and stop the lathe motor. The half nut handle stays up (engaged), back the bit out of the groove with the cross slide, reverse the motor and go back to the start point. Put the bit back to the start depth and move the compound in a few thou and take another cut. The cross slide will always be at zero for a starting point and just start and stop and forward and reverse your lathe. Just remember to leave the half nut lever up. Look in my SB 10K group i have a set up in pics that describes the whole ordeal, but its an internal thread. You will get the idea. ps THE LATHE WILL BE RUNNING IN BACK GEAR SO THE PROCESS GOES SLOW...Bob http://ph.groups.yahoo.com/group/southbend10k/photos/browse/9938 THREADING PICS HERE. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/southbend10k/ GROUP BUT YOU MUST JOIN FIRST.
