How to remove wheel collet closer collet adapter on 10"?

Just picked up my first lathe ever, a late 70's CL187RB 10"

It has a wheel collet closer attachment mounted.

Removing the wheel / drawbar and collet is no problem.

I'm not sure how to remove the collet adapter. I don't have a manual and couldn't find an answer on a youtube / forum search (maybe my vocabulary is wrong).

Any help is much appreciated!

On the older, threaded spindle machines, the thread protector ring is backed off with a pin wrench, this pops out the collet adapter. On your lathe with the cam-lock spindle, you need to use a knock-out bar which is nothing more than a long shaft, handle at one end and a weight at the other. The weight can be CRS or brass sized to clear the spindle ID and not clear the adapter ID. A smart rap will pop out the adaptor.

Try to refrain from using steel, because it can damage the closer. A 3/4" steel pipe with a brass insert in the end will work just fine. The knock out bar is also useful in removing centers and spindle adapters. The collet closer extends enough into the spindle bore that using a KO bar is second nature.
