Logan 12" lathe help needed

This is the nearest forum that I could find for a Logan Lathe.

Can I remove the 4 socket screws from the round plate without hurting the spindle bearings?

I want to freshen up the part.

For some reason I could not attach my image. This is the ring that surrounds the spindle.

I will try to get the image thingie to work.
