Hi All,

I'm new to this forum.

I'm looking for a printable lubricating chart for my 9inch South Bend lathe.

Also , can anyone tell me how to figure out my lathe serial number?

It is : 38071 NCR 9

Thanks

Have a look at this site, The SBL Workshop. The information you need is there. Look the site over carefully, he is in the process of updating the site. Your South Bend lathe was made in the second half of 1955. It is a 9 inch standard Change gear Lathe with a regular spindle. N = 9, C = change gear, R = regular spindle.

Stay safe and have fun with your new toy.
Joe.

I just received a new one for my 10L, if it's the same I'd be happy to send you a high resolution picture for printing. Drop me a line with your email...

Cheers~

The 9 and 10K is basically the same lathe, Just a difference in the swing. The 10L however is a much heavier lathe, And although the function is very similar, the charts are totally different. The website I gave him has several good printable charts. You may also wish to go through that site, there is a lot of good information that pertains to your lathe.

Stay safe and have fun.
Joe.
