Need Bull Gear for SB 10L (Large Spindle)

Hey there,

I have a 1983 10L, large spindle lathe with three missing teeth on the bull gear. If you have an extra, I'd like to speak with you about buying it.

those are rarer than hens teeth. Too many use the back gear to lock the spindle will trying to remove the chuck or other.

There's some guys 3D printing various SB gears and selling on Fleabay.
Might be enough demand to approach them about it.

Thanks for the replies, guys. I found one on Ebay. It was pricey. But since these particular gears are probably the ones most commonly needed, for the reason pointed out above, I felt lucky to find it.

I seriously doubt that a plastic gear could hold up better than a cast iron one.

I saw a post a while ago where someone repaired theirs. They made a tooth on a shaper I believe, cut a matching groove in the gear and brazed it.

Repaired mine with 7 broken teeth 10 years ago, still good as new. Simply, tap 2-3 holes for each tooth, make a screw with broad top, loctite in and machine the tooth to shape with an angle grinder.

What if he used aircraft grade milspec extruded billet plastic ? And, don't forget, it's 3D printed !
