Collets for 1921 13" lathe

I have a 1921 South Bend 13" lathe with a 1" hole through the spindle. Will Collets with a 15/16 or 5C fit this lathe. Do they need to be any special taper or length or will any standard set work?

No. 5C requires 1 3/8 hole. The simple fact is that the draw tube is only a bit smaller than the 1 3/8" hole. Draw tube of course needed to actuate collet

So I would need 4C or 3C collets or a collet chuck that attaches to my spindle and takes 5c.

Your machine was made for #2 South Bend collets, or 2A
I have a collet attachment and collets that should work for your machine.
