I know, pics. . . .my phone has "issues".
Got a bit of a beat-up sheet metal guard around motor and belt. Is this factory or a PO addition?
Where would I find the serial number?
Thanks all

My early 1940's Walker-Turner DP has a shop fab belt guard. Many DP's were sold with a guard either not "factory' available at all - or as an extra-cost option not always ordered.

Given the age, I'd suspect a wartime situation where the workforce was new and inexpert w/r moving machinery, 'coz those were being added on lots of goods long before OSHA existed.

The serial number is on the small flat boss on the left side of the column, just below the switches.

Mine had been painted over a couple times and wasn't as obvious as yours.
Decided my belt guard was not orig, discarded.
Otherwise in great shape after spending 60+ yrs in a hospital.
Replaced a Walker-Turner that I really liked but it had been horribly
abused long before I gained temporary custody. Son in law was grateful
to be next in line. Thanks to all who contribute.

Belt guards are for sissies.

Also, anyone who has an extra SB drill press belt guard like those pictured please let me know...

(Just the back portion. I have the front already.)
