Small head stock clips

Well every thing was going great head stock came apart great then the strange little clip i was going to take a pic of jumped out of my fingers. This is where it is now.

Those are oil control clips, they are supposed to help with oil return to the gallery below the bearing.

If you lost it you can make a new one from small hobby wire. I made some for my 9 and they don't seem to help with oil loss at all, but YMMV.

4 hours layter surching through oil bin and floor sweepings i found the oil clip on the work bench lol

They have nothing to do with controlling oil loss. They are there to break the surface tension of the oil so that it will drain through the hole back to the oil sump. If not there, a bubble could form in the hole and block the oil from properly draining.
