South Bend 9/10k Question

I am adjusting my newly refurbished 10k and noticed an issue. When I tighten the saddle gib on the back side, the saddle binds (locks up) and I can't turn the handwheel. If I loosen the gib screws about 1/4 turn, the handwheel turns and everything seems fine. Is this normal? If not, what is the best fix? Should I add shims between the gib and the saddle?

Any thoughts/ideas would be greatly appreciated.

You have to play with them to find the sweet spot. If and I say IF the bed is worn you may have to loosen them up more than you will like. The saddle will bind on the unworn area of the bed if the screws are tightened on a worn area.
