South bend lathe

I'm in England...and I've got a south bend lathe...
It's 14 1/2" swing with a 6ft bed...
It's designed for lineshaft running and I've got the original countershaft with the forward/reverse pulleys and bobbin setup...

Start with the serial number. It's at the tailstock end on the flat spot next to v way. That will identify a lot about your lathe. He may be having computer problems. You remember dial up.

I know where the serial numbers are on South bend lathes...

I've also got an old English screwcutting lathe..
And an Alfred Herbert turret lathe...
They're all for running off a lineshaft...

That has to be a lot of work getting the line shaft set up but would have to be a very satisfying setup to run. Running them as they were originally ran.
Did you buy the machines as a package deal?

So what year is your SB lathe?

Photos of your lathe would be great, but also photos of your other machines hooked up.

They're all in storage in shipping containers just now...

I've 38 flat belt driven machine tools in my private collection...
Both metalworking and woodworking...

Glenn, please some close ups of the South Bend....it seems to be a kind of rare model....but is hard to make out.

if you are able post what model it is(off the end gear cover)
