Hi,

My searches have been unsuccessful.

Can anyone tell me the direction the shaper's bull gear should turn looking at it from the access door?

Thanks,
Bob

I don't have a SB shaper, but with my Rhodes, the ram moves quicker(travels faster) on the return stroke, because of the leverage of the linkage connecting the bull gear/pinion gear, etc. So, for the same amount of input shaft rotation, the ram will travel faster turning the input shaft in one direction vs the other.

So, set your motor/belting to rotate with the most mechanical advantage, which is slower movement in the forward, cutting stroke.
