Can anyone tell me if the gib from a SouthBend 9 compound rest is the same size as one from a Heavy 10 compound ? Not concerned about length, just wondering if they are interchangeable as far as width, angle, gib screw spacing , etc. Basically if there fitment would be the same? Thank you for any/all reply’s. No, they're not the same - not even close. The Heavy 10 uses a tapered gib that is tightened from the front, while the 9" uses a straight gib that is tightened from the side.
