My father-n-law passed away last year and I would like to sell his Lathe. I have very limited knowledge about this type of equipment and would greatly appreciate some advice on pricing and selling.

I cleaned it up a little and replaced the external wiring in order to verify that it is in working condition. However I lost the leather belt in the move, so I need to get a replacement. I measured from the smallest wheel on the motor to the largest wheel on the lathe with the tensioner engaged and it seem to be about 50 inches. Can anyone verify the length and recommend a source ?

I've included several pictures.

Thank you,
Mark

i have replaced the leather with a flat serpentine belt from the auto parts store. But to use a that type of belt, you need to remove the spindle to install the belt. the serpentine works better than the leather. maybe you should leave it as is and let the new owner deal with it. The machine has a lot of tooling which is desirable but it does not have the threading gearbox so it is less valuable. if you list it on local craigslist, i dont think you could get over $600-800. Ebay brings more buyers and higher prices but then there is shipping involved.

I am with lectrician1, Best just sell lathe without the belt, new owner can replace with his preference..there is some cartridge reloading things mixed in the boxes of lathe stuff.

Thank you all for your feedback.

Thank you all for your feedback. I decided to list it on Craigslist, but if I don't get any reasonable offers I will list it on eBay.

I set the price at $900 so i have wiggle room and hoping to sell if for somewhere in the 800-600 range.

You might add a linked belts or a connected flat belt, better than tearing down if you have never done that.

May help it to sell if you can fire it up.

*Be sure the spindle is taking oil both sides. (X) don't run it dry!

I don't see the half nut from here , may just be the view?
Best to turn the compound so Half Nut dial is in the photo.

Flat connected belt $15-$25 or so ..Yo Yo measure size

that spindle size does not seem right.
Are you sure on that? My 9" is 1.5 8tpi.. I have not heard of the 1 3/8 10tpi before. but that doesn't mean it didn't exist. Just have not seen or heard of it.
