Southbend lathe - spur gear shaft....SPANNER ?

Hello, first post here....

I have a very old SB lathe that had teeth damaged on the gears that drive the apron. After buying a catalog (or whatever it is called) from Grizzly, I discovered they don't have the parts. (Wonder why I bought it....)

Anywho, these gears are attached, as in the picture. They ride on a shaft affixed to an arm. On the back of the arm there is a nut on the shaft - that comes off easy enough. But now I can't tell if the shaft is threaded into the arm or what. Additionally, there is an off-center hole in the end of the shaft (gear side) that I believe might be like a fixture to accept a spanner-type wrench... I don't mind gently warming it up but I'd rather know more about it before I attempt things (and possibly hurt it).

Thank you all!

The holes are oil ports. The shafts are light press fits. Just press them out. When you reassemble them, make sure that the oil posts are on the top.
