I have a 1954 10 inch heavy lathe which I need bearings for. I am unable to find them and ending up buy a head stock off ebay to keep the machine going, I am stripping layers of paint off the lathe priming and repainting alone with changing out all the wicks. Being a rookie I did a few things I should have not done resulting in messing up my bearings, I bought a new expander for the small bearing all I could find installed it and failed its not worth the postage now, So I need a new bearing and expander is there a replacement or a fix to this or do you have scrape metal if the bearings need replaceing of these lathes ?

Also try posting some pics of bearings and spindle. You don't need to scrape bearings in. But there are adjustments to expander, plus shims for bearing caps.
